"when you find your place where you are, practice occurs."

March 17, 2005

-Dogen, as qtd. by Gary Snyder.

Bisbee is treating me well-i have found a place where i am here, and am revelling in it. i almost prayed, from the cross looking down over the town, and i am learning the mountains and the people. Katya served me coffee in bed, after we talked till 3 am this morning, curled up under the blankets. this little vacation has been immensely calming-yes, i’m still an angsty little shit most of the time, i’m a lazy, flaky student with questionable social skills, i send more postcards than i should admit to the north slope and then deny that i have anything to do with it, but right now, i feel perfectly ok with that. i learned from michael moore (the herbalist) about chapparal the other day.

“i hear in europe it’s ok to cry.” -drunk guy at the copper queen.
